Honoring our heritage and our troops on the Fourth

Jim Souza

Jim Souza

Rialto, CA, July 1, 2010 -- Pyro Spectaculars by Souza is proud to “Celebrate America,” on this our nation’s 234th birthday.

The Souza’s, America’s Fireworks Family, are now in their 5th generation of fireworks excellence and are planning to stage more than 400 displays this 4th of July. “We are very proud to have achieved the American dream that our family’s ancestors began more than 100 years ago,” says Jim Souza, the company’s president and creative director.   “My family and I, like so many Americans, have this country to thank for that ongoing opportunity.”

What better way to remember our heritage than to follow the vision of founding father, later President, John Adams himself and set the skies ablaze in celebration of the liberty and freedom we Americans now enjoy and in remembrance of our country’s Independence Day?

This year's amazing fireworks programs will also pay special tribute to the families and members of the Armed Forces of America who are defending our freedom around the world. We must remember that it is because of their courage and sacrifices that we are able to celebrate our independence with family and friends on the 4th of July.

“We also cannot forget those giants who wrote and signed our Declaration of Independence,” Souza reminds us. “They not only pledged their lives and their fortunes, many actually sacrificed their lives and fortunes to achieve that freedom for future generations.”

Please bring your family together. Come together in your communities. Take a day, the 4th of July, to remember the heores of the our country's history. Honor the heroic men and women of our nation's Armed Forces, and thank all that is good for a country where we can be and remain free so long as we do not let down our guard or forget the spirit and courage of our forefathers.

Our best wishes for a safe and Spectacular 4th of July from,

JIM SOUZA

Pyrotechnic crew sets up mortars for large aerial fireworks display

Rialto, California, October 30, 2009 -- Pyro Spectaculars by Souza has just announced an opportunity in mid-November to train as a professional pyrotechnician in Southern California. "We are looking for a few good people to thrill audiences on the 4th of July," says Pyro President, Jim Souza.

The training consists of both classroom and hands-on training presented by some of the most experienced trainers in the industry.

The day-long workshop for people interested in becoming California licensed pyrotechnicians is scheduled for November 14, 2009, begining at 8:00 am and running all day, ending about 3:00 pm.

"There are very high standards for our pyrotechnicians," according to Mr. Souza, "and they must meet state and federal requirements to work on or supervise a fireworks display."

The law requires that trainees be 18 years old, citizens of the United States, and have no criminal backgrounds. You must be 21 years old to get a pyrotechnicians license, but at 18 you can work on displays training with licensees.

It takes more than a year to get licensed, but that just means you need to get started right away.

Why mess around with dinky little fireworks in the front yard when you can thrill thousands with the best fireworks in the world?

Call Margo at 909-355-8120 now for information and reservations. You must be registered in advance by calling to participate.

New York City Glows in the Light of
Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

New York City, July 4, 2009 -- Millions in New York City, along the Hudson River Shorline in New Jersey, and across America in a live NBC telecast celebrated the aniversary of America's Independence Saturday night with the biggest 4th of July fireworks show in the world.

Pyro Spectaculars by Souza brought the necessary 6 barges of fireworks and the technology to perfectly coordinate the fireworks with the music being played live on the deck of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid by the New York Pops Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Steve Reineke.

The huge 30 minute display moved this year from the east side to the west side of New York City in tribute to it's origins on the Hudson River. It celebrated also the early explorers that came to the Hudson some 400 years ago.

While the live show was staged in New York, there was plenty of life in New Jersey too. Fireworks fans formed a virtually unbroken line along more than three miles of riverfront, hillside viewing areas, and towering skyline buildings to be a part of the party. Manhattan to the east and Wehawken and Hoboken on the New Jersey side of the river benefitted tremendously with sold out hotels, booked up restaurants and throngs of visitors to all city attractions for the holiday weekend.

Pyro Spectaculars by Souza veteran pyrotechnician Gary Souza headed up the fireworks crew that worked tirelessly for days in less than ideal weather to set up the display, which is really 6 giant displays all synchronized to fire at one time to live music. "There is an incredible amount of detais to handle in a display of this size, especially in a City of this size," Souza noted. Of course, he is referring not just to the fireworks tasks alone, but also to the months of design and coordination with Macy's and public agencys and the logistics of moving equipment, crew and fireworks into position.

The display went off exactly as planned to the delight of crowds, sponsors, officials and pyrotechnicians alike. It is a tribute not only to the patriots and explorers of the past but to the spirit of those same giants on whose shoulders we stand to present the greatest fireworks display in the country, for the greatest country in the world, on America's most patriotic of holidays.

I think I'll go buy something at Macy's today, so we can do this again next year, and the next, and....

Join Us!!!
Celebrate Our Nation's Heritage

Rialto, CA, July 1,2009 -- Can you smell those barbeques firing up? Can you hear the kids running and laughing?  The sound of the ice chest creaking open for another frosty cold drink?  The sun is beginning to set now and the families are spreading out their blankets and moving their chairs into just the right place? Are there any chips left? "When does the show start, Daddy?"

It's the 4th of July, and time to get out of the work a day world with your family and friends and just relax and enjoy yourselves. It's Saturday night, and there are thousands of people in communities across that country that have spent months getting ready to entertain and excite you and yours in  the great tradition of this most patriotic of American holidays.

It has not been easy for many of us this year, and it has not been easy for the people that sponsor and put on your fireworks displays. While a few displays will not take place this year, almost all have rallied and pulled together to keep the tradition of celebration alive for you.

While there are a few who may see such celebrations of our country as an unnecessary indulgence, the rest recognize that it is an important opportunity to come together as a community.  As neighbors and families, we must remember how our forefathers suffered through so much to give us what we have today.

The 4th of July recalls those greatest of patriots who joined together to "mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor." We do not celebrate with parades of tanks and artillery and high stepping soldiers marching in military bravado. But this is no trivial holiday for us. We celebrate instead with our families and commutiies and with that which was given to us by those patriots - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Be a part of the lives that are your community and the tradition that is our country. Support both those who are in need and those who have worked tirelessly organizing your celebration of our freedom. There is no need to choose between one or the other.

We must be thankful that there are individuals, organizations and cities that recognize that at times like this it is especially important to bring people together in a common purpose. Great things are accomplished when we not only say that we are a community but we actually join together as community. Get out on the 4th and join us. Celebrate our nation's heritage. Be a part of your community and your country. Continue the tradition.

Our best wishes for a safe and Spectacular 4th of July from,
